My heart run faster then the gold medal.......

Is my heart going to run faster than the gold medal in 2010?

It’s been said that people who are physically fit are healthier and happier people. As we know, exercise will lengthen your life, improve your appearance, build self –confidence and help delay the ageing process. But what’s about your heart? When it comes to love, doesn’t your heart need a work – out occasionally too?

Take, for example professional athletes, who will train hours each day to achieve lifelong ambition, regardless of the pain. But along the way they discover personal way strengths and weakness that will challenge and motivate. Dating isn’t any different – aren’t we all just preparing for the big race?

Recently I was challenged with a heart exercise that unfortunately wasn’t related to any physical activity. I developed a crush. Each time I saw him my heart would race….

I’d blabber something stupid and act like an idiot whenever he was near. If only having a crush meant burning calories, then I’d be wearing tighter jeans now.

Nevertheless, this young-man had given me quite the emotional work-out.

Many top athletes will visualize succeeding before the competition had begun – whether it’s setting a world record, making the perfect dive or remembering past sporting greats’ achievements. If you don’t imagine, then how do you win the race?

In the dating arena we also seek motivation through visualisation techniques. We draw inspiration from friends, family and even the occasional romantic comedy couch potato work-out session.

Before I’d kissed him, my mind had raced into the MCG of all – time amazing relationships.

I was going for gold.

After a week or two or three I realized my crush was exactly that – just a crush. Like any athlete who has suffered an injury that has meant time away from the game.

Sometimes it takes a few trail matches to get back to top notch form.

If James Hird had retired after his knee reconstruction he might never have enjoyed such a fulfilling comeback. With a career like his, I am sure he has no regrets – it was all worth it.

Rather than feeling despondent and insecure, perhaps a little exercise was exactly what my heart needed. It was reminder that my heart was fully functional and I am still capable of feeling all the nervous excitement and energy that romance brings.

Plato once said: “Lack of activity destroys the good condition of every human being, while movement and methodical physical exercise save it and preserve it.”

Despite the fact the ancient Greek philosopher aren’t taking about relationships I think he was on to something.

By letting go and excercising the possibilities of my crush, I was actually preserving the feeling that romance still exists.

Whether it be an unsuccessful relationship or mere flirtation with a cute stranger, exercise for the heart is an essential component of any love training program.

When you’re faced with life’s little hurdles, you’re forced to re-evaluate. How much do I really want it? Despite the false start, I am fuelled with a surge of energy that’s affirmed what I truly want in my life.

I am still very much in the running.

At the end of the day, the more exercise you give your heart, the stronger it becomes.

And if that’s not reason enough for work-out, what else is? It’s time for new fitness routine and this one begins with the heart.

So my heart runs faster than the gold medal at the game………………

Till then.....
